About museum preserve

The Museum is located in a renovated by the reserve museum "the birthplace of V.I. Lenin" house that belonged to the titular counselor Vasily Vasilyevich Chernikov, official, musician, journalist and publisher, the owner of the first in Simbirsk province of the private printer.

The Museum exposition tells about the history of the development of the printing industry in Simbirsk province from the late eighteenth century to the early twentieth century, about public and private printing houses of Simbirsk, as well as about a variety of musical life in the city in the 2-nd half of XIX century - beginning of XX century.

Museum visitors can get acquainted with the history of printing technology, unique editions, history of musical instruments and musical societies, and learn interesting facts from the life and activity of a wide range of musicians and music lovers, known in Simbirsk personalities. The Museum staff has prepared many surprises for its guests. You will be able to personally make an impression on the current transaction machine, to hear music, which performed well-known in Simbirsk performers - bands of P. V. Tolstoy and Prince I. P. Trubetskoy, pianist and teacher K. K. Eyzrih who was a composer, a pianist, a cellist and a conductor V.V. Chernikov, pianists A.I Susokolova, R. N. Lutnovsky, a cellist M. I. Wagner, singers P. I. Yazyikova, E. P. Naumova, S. A. Kondyakova and others. Museum’s aim is to show the history of the cultural and social development of Simbirsk.
