About museum preserve

The Museum tells about the history of formation and development of the secondary education in the Russian Empire. The memorial setting helps to feel the atmosphere of an old educational institution in 1880s. The interiors of the classrooms, the Assembly hall, the physical cabinet, the "greatcoat room" are reconstructed here with the greatest possible accuracy. You can sit at the desk of the upper secondary school, look through the tutorial programs of the gymnasium course, see the only in Russia sundial from the 1840s of the trading houses of Borgard and also boil water with one touch of your hand using the current physical device – the boiler of Franklin.

The former Simbirsk classical school is a historic monument. The main building was built in 1790 by the architect I.Tuscany. In 1883, to the main building was made an adjacent building from red brick, which is currently the house of the Museum. Among high school graduates there were V.I. Ulyanov (Lenin), I.A. Yakovlev, M.N. Bogdanov, S.A. Buturlin, D.D. Minaev, D.I. Sadovnikov, V.P. Filatov.
