About museum preserve

The Museum building is located on the territory of the former estate of A.I. Sakharov. In 1904 there was a photo studio here, where there worked the first masters of photographic works - Holevin and Nikanorov (by the way, close to the house No. 28 in the modern Bebel street there is a house, where it was a famous in Simbirsk the photography of Caganin). Opening the doors of the Museum, the visitor enters the potostudio of the late XIX - early XX centuries. A reception room, furnished with antique furniture, a huge mirror in carved frame, an office desk, upholstered in green cloth, a sofa - all of them are genuine things that belonged to the family of the photographer. Here also the working area of a craftsman is recreated. The second hall exposition acquaints visitors with the history of the development of photography in Ulyanovsk. Old photographs, albums, cameras are exhibited. Visitors can imagine themselves in the role of clients in a photo studio and take a picture with the whole family on the background scenery in the retro-style in ancient costumes.
